Michigan Lake Homes!

So what kind of Southeastern Michigan lake home do you want?  As an experienced lake realtor I know to ask these questions.  Livingston County and Oakland County lakes vary so much.  So you do not want to buy a home on a lake that does not fit you and your family.

So what are your wants and needs for a Southeastern Michigan lake home?

  • Do you own a boat now? Power boat, sail boat, fishing boat, wakeboard boat.  There are lakes that are called all sports lakes, but they are too small for an avid wakeboarder.
  • Are you a salom water skier? There are lakes in Oakland County that have ski courses on them.
  • Do you hate the noise of a jet ski? There is a limited all sports lake in the area that does not allow jets skis.
  • Are you looking for a subdivision lake that has homes of similar styles and shapes. You may want a home on Lake Voorheis in Oakland County.  A lake that has no ramshackle cottages on it.
  • Maybe you are looking for just the view of the lake. You may not care to own a boat.  A small lake like Lake Ona in White Lake may be for you.
  • Or maybe you do not want power boats at all on the lake. Then Green Lake in West Bloomfield or Dunham Lake in Hartland may be the right fit for you.
  • Do you want to swim right off the front of your property? Then a mucky lake front may not be for you.

These are just a few of the questions you need to be asking yourself about a lake and lake home you want.  I recently had a lake home realtor that did not know about the lake.  She almost had her client buying a home on a lake that their boat was not allowed on.  Boy wouldn’t that have been a surprise after the closing.  The buyer would have to sell their boat and buy a new one.

Certain lakes are good for sailing, some are not.  Some lakes have good associations.  Some of local lakes are private so only the lakefront home owners can put a boat on the lake.  There are lakes that there are sewers coming in.  That could be a huge additional cost for a lake home buyer.

If you have never lived on a lake you may not even think of these questions or these possibilities.  That is my job as a lake realtor to help you find a home that fits your needs.  Whether you are active watersports person or a kayaker there is a lake here in Southeastern Michigan that fits you.  Did you know that the Huron River starts up at Big Lake in Davisburg and flows all the way down to Lake Erie.  You may want to buy a home on Fox Lake in Commerce so you kayak up to Oxbow Lake in White Lake Township.  Or maybe you want to be on the Chain of lakes in Livingston County?  There are nine different lakes all connected together via the Huron River.    You could spend hours kayaking and never see it all.

So when you are ready to buy a Southeastern Michigan lake home give me a call on my cell (248) 310-6239.  Remember we offer a great home buyers bonus too.  When you buy and close on a Michigan lake home with me as your realtor I will buy you a kayak, or grill, or smoker.  (up to $500 in value)
