Breast Cancer

Breast cancer, this terrible disease effects so many women across the county. Leaving their families in turmoil, and their last few months spent suffering; usually in a hospital bed. Of course not all women who develop breast cancer will die, whether its fate, a positive attitude, support and love from those close by, or luck. This disease is one that has stumped even the most brilliant of doctors and scientists, making those who develop it, even more frightened, because of what the future may hold. However breast cancer is a disease that can be controlled. I know, controlled, what am I saying? I’m saying that taking the steps to lead a healthy lifestyle, and to perform regular checks on yourself or having them done, are just a few actions that can be taken to gain some control over breast cancer. When you find a symptom early enough the chances of is worsening can go down, the chance of spreading can go down, the chances of death ultimately can go down. Now I say “can”, because when dealing with cancer there really isn’t a definite outcome, or a steady course. I’ve had people that say their loved ones were turning around and then for some unknown reason, took a drastic change. I don’t want to sound insensitive or scary, but this is a difficult subject to discuss. That is why it is so crucial to take the necessary actions for early diagnosis if you possibly have it. Being young you may think you won’t end up developing it, but you can. Yes the chances are lower, but it’s not impossible, so this does apply to those of all ages. Those of you from ages 35-85 are at risk the most. This is when you need to take a look at the calendar try to remember when your last checkup was and schedule and appointment. Like I said early diagnosis seems to play a crucial role in the battle against cancer. Now for all the men out there, while it is obvious that breast cancer is more prominent in women, it can develop in a man as well. So making sure you pay attention to the signs your body gives you is also important. I hope that one day we will form a cure and make affordable for everyone, no one should suffer. Take the steps to help yourself, be aware and help others.
